The Challenge

Asakura Robinson had grown into one of the nation’s most respected planning, urban design, and landscape architecture firms. Known for its community-centered practice and people-first approach, the firm had built a strong reputation—but its brand no longer reflected the scale or ambition of its work.

The visual identity felt local and outdated, creating disconnects between disciplines and locations. Internally, teams lacked a shared story. Externally, audiences encountered inconsistencies that diluted credibility and limited recognition. The brand needed to evolve into something as future-facing as the firm itself.

Our Approach

LIMB was brought in to help Asakura Robinson realign its identity with its purpose. The goal was not to reinvent, but to reveal. Through deep discovery, we surfaced the values, culture, and aspirations that defined the firm’s next chapter.

The brand system needed to celebrate interdisciplinary collaboration while providing clarity across practice areas. At every touchpoint, it had to reflect both the technical precision and the humanity of the work.

  1. A natural color palette assigned to each discipline created clarity and cohesion across planning, urban design, and landscape architecture.
  2. Layered graphic elements referenced the built and natural environments the firm engages—echoing complexity and connection.
  3. Clean, open typography reinforced a sense of care, equity, and intentionality, mirroring the firm’s design philosophy.

We extended the brand across a new digital experience, giving the internal team the flexibility to showcase projects, publish ideas, and maintain consistency across geographies.

The Outcome

The refreshed brand created unity inside and out. It gave teams a shared language and visual identity while elevating the firm’s national presence. The website offered a flexible foundation for growth, strengthening recruitment, marketing, and storytelling.

This was more than a visual refresh. It was a long-term repositioning designed to scale with impact.

Strategy

Purpose at Heart

We clarified the firm’s core narrative, ensuring alignment between values, disciplines, and future ambitions. By defining what makes Asakura Robinson distinct, and why it matters, we laid the foundation for a brand that could flex across audiences and evolve with confidence.

Design

Systems Rooted in Place

We developed a system that is both structured and expressive. A color-coded discipline system, layered visual elements, and intentionally spacious layouts gave the brand a dynamic visual language rooted in the environments and communities it serves.

Digital

Built to Evolve

We designed and built a responsive, user-friendly website powered by a flexible CMS. It enables easy content updates, supports cross-team publishing, and presents a unified voice, reinforcing the brand while reducing dependency on external support.
