The Challenge

Florescence is a biennial competitive flower show co-presented by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and The Garden Club of Houston, in collaboration with the River Oaks Garden Club. It is one of the nation’s most prestigious floral design events, transforming museum galleries into spaces where nature and art converge.

As a large-scale production with multiple stakeholders and audiences, Florescence needed more than just beautiful design. It required a cohesive, evolving brand system and a flexible digital platform to support everything from theme development and registration to event-day logistics and legacy-building.

Our Approach

LIMB has partnered with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Garden Club of Houston, and the River Oaks Garden Club across multiple Florescence cycles to create a cohesive experience that honors tradition while embracing each season’s theme. Our work spans strategy, design, digital infrastructure, and ongoing support.

  1. Collaborated with co-chairs to define each season’s concept and translate it into a compelling visual and verbal identity
  2. Designed annual materials including invitations, programs, signage, credentials, and digital assets with a focus on elegance and clarity
  3. Developed and maintained the event website, managing theme updates, participant registration, schedules, and volunteer forms
  4. Created original illustrations and design systems that reflect each year’s theme while maintaining brand continuity
  5. Provided on-site support during event setup and execution to ensure seamless alignment across all touchpoints

Every detail is crafted to reflect the spirit of Florescence: timeless beauty, community celebration, and a shared love of nature and gardening.

The Outcome

Florescence has grown from a celebrated flower show into a deeply memorable, enduring experience—known for its beauty, precision, and prestige. LIMB’s partnership has helped evolve the brand system, modernize event operations, and elevate the experience for everyone involved.

Internally, organizers, committees, and volunteers now work from a shared, scalable system that removes ambiguity and improves coordination. Externally, attendees and participants engage with a seamless, elegant experience—from registration and signage to the final show galleries.

With each event cycle, the brand grows stronger and more resonant—remaining both rooted in tradition and ready for what’s next.

Purpose-Built Engagement Plan

We worked closely with stakeholders to align around audience expectations, streamline messaging, and ensure every detail—theme, timeline, channels—was purpose-built to support participation and engagement. Strategic clarity was essential to guide the creative system and set each year’s story in motion.

 

Design

Evolving, Elegant Identity System

Each season, we crafted a distinctive identity system that honored the event’s legacy while breathing life into the current theme. From original illustrations to curated palettes and graceful typography, our design work sought to elevate the experience while preserving the elegance and consistency Florescence is known for.

We designed every touchpoint—from invitations and gallery signage to badges, programs, and digital graphics—with clarity, sophistication, and flexibility in mind. The result is a brand experience that delights without distracting, and evolves while staying true to its roots.

 

Digital

Secure, Real-Time Production Support

Behind the scenes, we designed and built a secure custom registration system that handled hundreds of entries, categories, judges, and timelines with ease. We ensured the website was mobile-friendly, visually aligned with the annual theme, and structured to support updates and form management throughout the planning cycle.

What sets this work apart is our continued involvement—not just pre-launch, but through real-time support across multiple events. From live updates to logistics oversight, LIMB’s digital partnership ensures that even the most complex production elements run with calm and clarity.
